Johanna describes her work as follows--

Johanna Mosca assists with PRYT in Sedona“As a Yoga Instructor, I create a safe space for my clients to go deeper within. Through the breath, we let go of all concerns and create a bridge from the mind to the body. I encourage my students to go to a soft edge, stretching gently beyond the body’s initial movement into an extended stretch that is steady and comfortable.   I guide students to focus within and find the inner sanctum where there is a feeling of total peace and well-being.

When I lead a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy session, I interview my client about what’s going on mentally, physically and emotionally.  I ask about what conditions the client is working on and select the aromatherapy oils that seem most appropriate.  Inviting the client to stand, I conduct a body scan to assess blocks and discover what poses would be best for this particular client.  We begin the actual session with a centering, energy balancing, foot-flexing, plus a bit a foot-reflexology massage, leg and arm rotations and gentle traction, neck tilting and traction, and a scalp massage.

After these warm-ups, I assist the client into a series of poses chosen to release tightness and blocks and restore maximum energy. Often, when the client gives me permission to do what I call “compassionate laser coaching,” I am able to mirror a client’s concerns in such a way that the client gains new insight, shifts, and transforms the issues permanently.  This one-on-one assisted yoga, energy balancing, and aromatherapy works on multi-dimensional levels to help deeply heal the body, mind, and spirit. “

Sedona Spirit Yoga, based in gentle Kripalu Yoga of self-acceptance, includes a variety of styles plus chakra balancing. Johanna also teaches gentle Vinyasa or yoga flows that both relax and energize the body. She teaches students to apply the Yoga principles to bring more peace and contentment to life.

Join us for a heart-opening, transformational experience!
Let us help you achieve lasting contentment now.

A Yoga retreat in Sedona with Johanna is a unique experience. The Yoga classes were amazing; Johanna is a gifted teacher who makes students of all levels feel comfortable. Most memorable were Phoenix Rising sessions and Yoga among the red rocks. Come prepared to laugh, feel free, and be energized.

VALLEY GUIDE
Summer 2005
Soothe Your Soul
Northern Arizona Single-Day Getaways to Rejuvenate the Spirit
Author Amy Abrams was happy to spend a day with us doing research for her article. She wrote about how she benefited from a psychic reading and three-hour vortex yoga hike with our Sedona Spirit Yoga & Hiking team. About her yoga hike, she commented that she was “impressed with the heightened vitality from postures at this exquisite vortex site…and the beauty and power of this sacred spot.” Amy’s long Sedona adventure ended with a late yoga therapy appointment with Johanna,  about which she wrote—“Johanna Mosca was eager to facilitate my spiritual growth with a one-on-one session in Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy—a combination of classical yoga and mind-body psychology that promotes a powerful release of tension from emotional issues held within the body.

With Mosca assisting me through yoga postures and guided breathing with the aid of specifically chosen aromatherapy oils, I release old, deeply stored body memories.  This is a profound process providing valuable insights and dramatic release of tensions form a difficult period in my life. I am so tired following the session that it is not until the next morning that I realize how light, peaceful, and free I feel. Now weeks later, I am enjoying the positive results of clearing deeply rooted negative emotion.”
